Use this page to give clients a ZIP they can download and run on their own computer.

Client Local Indexer

This ZIP lets the client index folders on their own Windows computer. It creates a local SQLite index and does not upload their files.

Included client files

RUN_Find2V5_Local_Indexer.bat — starts the local indexer GUI.
find2v5_local_indexer.py — local indexer source code.
INSTALL_OPTIONAL_PACKAGES.bat — installs optional Python extraction packages.
BUILD_Find2V5_Local_Indexer_EXE.bat — builds Find2V5_Local_Indexer.exe on Windows using PyInstaller.
RUN_CLI_EXAMPLE.bat — command-line example.

Client instructions

Download and unzip the package.
Double-click RUN_Find2V5_Local_Indexer.bat.
Choose a folder such as Documents, Pictures, Desktop, or a shared folder.
Click Index Folder.
Search locally, select results, and use ZIP Selected if needed.

EXE note: This package includes the BAT file to build the Windows EXE. Build the EXE on a Windows computer by running BUILD_Find2V5_Local_Indexer_EXE.bat.

Selected-result ZIP downloads

On the server search page, users can select result checkboxes and click Download Selected ZIP. That packages the selected server files and immediately downloads them in the browser.
